We are currently in the process of raising funds to build the
first part of our building. Phase one consists of a steel framed structure 130'
x 90' that will be used for storage of our apparatus collection. All ground
preparation has been completed thanks to donated help from the Oregon National
Guard.
We have submitted grant applications with several granting agencies and we are
pursuing corporate donations, all aimed at funding this project. We are seeking
the sponsorship of major corporations who recognize what our firefighters have
done for the state and value the benefits of fire education.
The initial building phase will provide a secure location to display not only
our apparatus and firefighting memorabilia, but also equipment that comes from
the collections of fire departments and private collectors. In addition to the
display area, phase one will include restrooms, restoration workshop, and
storage area.
Phase two will be a two story structure designed to replicate an early 1900's
fire station, complete with alarm room, stables, apparatus bay and dorm. This
part of the building will also include our education center, complete with
interactive displays and activities to inform people, both young and old, on
ways to protect themselves from the dangers of fire.
Our display area will also double as a meeting area, providing a location that
offers a large floor space for groups to hold meetings, seminars, social
gatherings and even weddings.
