About The Museum

Fire Chief W.C. "Ted" Miller, the man who
inspired the dream of the Oregon Fire Museum in the state,
lived to preside over the groundbreaking at our future
home in Brooks, Oregon. Chief Miller's vision for the fire service was
far reaching, but his passion of fire prevention stayed at the forefront
of his illustrious career. Chief Miller was known
for his credo to the fire service, "There is no honor in
fighting a fire that could have been prevented."
In memory of Chief Miller, and all firefighter heroes
who prevent fires through education, Oregon Fire Service
Museum will maintain a children's learning center at the
museum site.
The Oregon Fire Service Museum is a public, non-profit,
educational institution devoted to preserving the
history and heritage of the fire service in general and
the Oregon fire service in particular. A major goal of
the museum is to preserve and exhibit historical fire
records, apparatus, equipment and memorabilia. Further
objectives are the restoration of antique fire apparatus
and equipment, developing a multimedia-learning center
for fire safety education and establishing a statewide
memorial for fire service personnel.
The Museum has
many fine pieces of apparatus and equipment to be
displayed after the completion of our future home at
the Western Antique Powerland, Inc. which is located at
the Brooks exit on I-5. Brooks is north of the Salem/Keizer
area by approximately 4 miles. We look forward to an exciting and educational
representation of not only our history, but also our
future. Look for us in your travels!
